Boutique hotels are what’s in right now. Big chain hotels are simply much too commercial for the young, professional traveler. And who doesn’t love the newest, most trendy and shiny of things?
The actual definition of what a boutique hotel really is can depend on who you’re talking to, but according to the hospitality industry, boutique hotels are those that aim to make for a more unique guest experience, through having less rooms, more personalized service for each guest, and a higher attention to detail in it’s small factors, such as innovative gadgets and designer decor.
Hotel Hugo, New York
The Hotel Hugo boutique hotel opened in 2014 and has 122 upscale rooms. It’s location is prime, situated on the west side of SoHo in the Hudson Square area. The downtown industrial style hotel designed by architect Marcello Pozzi has maritime inspired decor, with walnut polishing and chrome fixtures. Looking over the Hudson River, it gives the vibe that you’re sailing on a luxurious yacht. Their rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city is not too shabby as well.
The Peninsula Paris
The glorious Peninsula Paris located in the 16th arrondissement is home to 200 rooms. It is one of Paris’s most luxurious hotels and prides itself on its high quality personalized service with their team of 600 employees. After a four year, million dollar renovation, the hotel reopened it’s doors in 2014. The historic building offers spectacular decor and high-class drinking and dining options.
The Redbury South Beach, Miami
The Redbury South Beach hotel has a large rooftop pool with unbeatable views of Miami. On top of this, it’s restaurant offers a unique Mediterranean menu. What’s really special though is it’s size, with only 69 guest rooms in the entire hotel and it’s bright Art Deco vibe.

This boutique resort is situated far, far away from the crowded Nassau. The property, open since 2013 is a popular spot for celebrities looking for some peace and quiet. There are 150 completely chic rooms that are filled with white decor. The infinity pools are drool-worthy, and the cliffside bar sits between two pink-sand beaches.
Janas Hotel, Sardinia
The Janas Hotel opened in 2014 and has 14 spacious rooms. Breakfast, which comes with the room, is served in an elegant space with outdoor seating on it’s terrace. The superior deluxe rooms offer access to the rooftop whirlpool.
ME London
The ME London, which opened in 2013 hosts 157 guest rooms and is a design boutique hotel situated right on The Strand. The chic, minimalist rooms and the dark lobby make for an artsy and VIP vibe. Their rooftop bar, lounges and restaurants are an event by themselves and bring in both tourists as well as locals.
