Sweet or Savory: What Do You Prefer?

When it comes to food everyone has their own opinions. This is because there is so much to choose from. But when you look at it in the grand scheme of things, there are technically two specific categories when it comes to food. This would be sweet and savory. Sweet obviously speaks to sweet things like cake, sweets, chocolates and tarts. Savory obviously speaks to your beefs, fish, chicken, pies and so much more. Now because you have so many options, it can be hard to decide on which one is better. Luckily, there are a few things you can keep in mind when choosing between the two.

Savory treats are really easy to find. This is because they aren’t really treats. Instead they are your ordinary meals. Savory foods can literally be anything. You know that beef stew you made the other day? Well that is a savory meal. Are you starting to get the picture? People usually crave savory foods because of the salt content and because they tend to make you full. But that’s not all. You will often find a number of different ingredients in a savory meal which ultimately brings it together. When eating you expose your tastebuds to a variety of different flavors all at once.

Sweet things are usually seen as guilty pleasures. This is because even though you may have a hankering for something sweet, it isn’t really considered healthy to give in to your cravings. With that said, all you really need to do is portion control. This means trying to not overindulge. Yes, you can have a few blocks of chocolate, but that doesn’t mean you should eat the entire slab. It is very easy to choose sweet things over savory ones because they taste really good and they make you feel good. However you should keep in mind that you need to give your body nutritious foods first.
