Popcorn Beach

The second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, Fuerteventura,  is best known for it’s dreamy white sandy beaches. However, few people are aware of the fact that this very island is also home to one of the most stunning and unique attractions out there. That would be a popcorn beach.

Although many tourist spots have names after the things that they resemble, even slightly, in the case of popcorn beach, it more than just merely resembles popcorn.

This place literally looks like it’s covered in millions and millions of pieces of white fluffy popcorn. However, be sure not to eat them, since they are actual hard, stony pieces of coral that look exactly like popcorn.

Popcorn beach is not exactly known as one of the hot spots to visit for tanning and swimming, especially since stone popcorn isn’t nearly as comfortable to lay out on than sand is. But it is undeniable, that nonetheless, this is a sight not to be missed.

Although it’s been around for decades, it rose to popularity thanks to Instagram. For obvious reasons, photos of a beach covered in popcorn attracted no shortage of attention.
