In the strength and the glory of power, In the pride and the pleasure of wealth(For who dares dispute me my dower Of talents and youth-time and health?), I can laugh at the world and its sages I am greater than seers who are sad, For he is most wise in all ages Who knows how to be glad.
I lift up my eyes to Apollo, The god of the beautiful days, And my spirit soars off like a swallow, And is lost in the light of its rays. Are tou troubled and sad? I beseech you Come out of the shadows of strife Come out in the sun while I teach you The secret of life.
Come out of the world – come above it Up over its crosses and graves, Though the green earth is fair and I love it, We must love it as masters, not slaves. Come up where the dust never rises But only the perfume of flowers And your life shall be glad with surprises Of beautiful hours. Come up where the rare golden wine is Apollo distills in my sight, And your life shall be happy as mine is, And as full of delight.

Back in the day, partying at a discotheque was equivalent to what we would consider our modern-day Coachella. The age of disco was a lifestyle of fun, acceptance, freedom and a ton of dancing. From Bianca Jagger’s extravagant club appearances to disco-marriages, their way of partying back in the day was extremely cool. So let’s hustle on over to the 1970s and check out these groovy pictures from the age of disco, club edition.
Michael Jackson & Steven Tyler
On May 31, 1977, Studio 54 threw a Beatlemania Party. The star-studded event was the place to be in New York City at the time. A young Michael Jackson and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith were photographed hanging out at the club.
Bianca Jagger & Liza Minelli
Bianca Jagger and Liza Minelli are seen celebrating at Bianca’s birthday party at Studio 54 on May 2, 1978. Other famous regulars included stars like Andy Warhol, Elton John, Rick James, Truman Capote, Freddie Mercury, Loud Reed, Al Pacino, Cher, David Bowie, Salvador Dalí, Robin Williams and Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
Truman Capote & Paloma Picasso
In June of 1979, from left to right is Lorna Luft, Jerry Hall, Debbi Harry, Truman Capote, Paloma Picasso were at the Interview party at Studio 54. The club was famous for its door policy. Owner Rubell was a doorman and he knew exactly who he would allow in and who would never step foot inside. Rubell once said that “the key to a good party is filling a room with guests more interesting than you.”
Ariana Grande & Joe Jonas
There is seriously no one in Hollywood (or the world, for that matter) who wouldn’t want to party with Ariana Grande. She is literally the most popular pop star of this generation. And here she is posing with members of DNCE and Joe Jonas at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Stiv Bators, Bebe Buell, Rodney Bingenheimer, Maria Montoya
Bebe Buell gained notoriety after her very public relationship with Rodd Rundgren from 1972 till 1979. She was also famous for her connections with other rock stars spanning four decades. She had a child, actress Liv Tyler, with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. This photograph was taken in October 1979 with Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys at a Blondie party in Los Angeles.
Diana Ross danced the night away at Studio 54 in 1979. She must have been a huge fan of the world’s most famous nightclub because on the night before the owners were being sent to jail they had one last big blow-out of a party and Diana Ross personally sang to the owners.
It comes as no surprise that Madonna has some pretty wild party stories from back in the day! She’s known nowadays for throwing the wildest parties Los Angeles has ever seen with only A+++ celebrities allowed in.
Dua Lipa & Charlie XCX
Pop’s sweethearts Dua Lipa and Charli XCX are seriously so cute in this photo! We so want to join that party and hang with these two queens. The singers were partying back in 2017 at some fancy hotel somewhere in London being the coolest.
Bebe Buell & Rod Stewart
This photograph was taken in New York’s Pierre Hotel, December 5, 1977, capturing just one of the singer, model, and Playboy girl’s rock stars. Buell’s first four dates ever were with Todd Rundgren, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Mick Jagger. From 1972 to 1979, Buell had an on-and-off-again relationship with Rundgren. But in 1976, Buell had a brief relationship with Steven Tyler in which she became pregnant.
Courtney Love & Drew Barrymore
Courtney Love is no stranger to the party scene, that’s for sure! And Drew Barrymore has been on every guest list since her childhood having been a child star. This photo is so good it makes us miss the old days.
Oh, Miley, perhaps the queen of the party scene! You’re bound to see the singer at every party ever. This photo was taken backstage at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards partying with dancers dressed just as colorfully as the star herself.
Bianca Jagger & Sterling St. Jacques
Bianca Jagger and Sterling St. Jacques are seen dancing at Studio 54 in May 1978. This sight was not something a club-goer would look twice at since this sort of thing went down all the time. Studio 54 was a place where the broke and marginalized people of society could party with the rich and famous.
