Different Types of Monkeys

Monkeys are one the animals that have been around for many years. With that said, they are spread throughout the world. Now you may think that there are only one or two types of monkey breeds but you are wrong. There are actually over 25 different monkey breeds spread all over the world. Now you may have thought that there was only one because you have only seen one. But the reason why you may have only seen one is that monkey might be popular in your region of the world. But here we are going to give you some in site into some of the different monkey breeds we have.

Our first monkey breed takes us all the way to China. In the small fragmented region of Tibetan Plateau, you will find the Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey. The Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey is also known as Rhinopithecus roxellana. With that said, this is by far the most attractive monkey out there. This is because of its golden orange fur coats and bright blue faces. Now even though monkeys are known for living in the forests and mountains. The winter temperatures of the Tibetan Plateau do drop below freezing. This is why they are known to gather the young and huddle up in groups to stay warm during the winter.

Next, we have to talk about one of the more recognizable monkeys. We are talking about the Mandrill also known as the Mandrillus sphinx. Although it has similar features to that of a baboon, you have to remember that it is in fact not a baboon. With that said the Mandrill is native to western and central Africa. Unlike other monkey breeds, the Mandrill tries to avoid all human contact by living in densely forested areas. They also choose to stay on the ground but are great climbers.
