A Beginners Guide to Speed Walking

Did you know that you can actually lose weight and burn calories while speed walking? That’s right, all you need to know is how to do it correctly. You may have seen groups of people walking really fast in the park and probably wondered where they were going. The thing is they are exercising. They aren’t trying to run or jog. What they are doing is called speed walking. Now you may have heard of walking, jogging and running before, but that’s because speed walking isn’t as popular as it used to be. But, don’t worry, you can still give it a try if you are interested.

Speed walking is like any other type of exercise. If done correctly, it will get your heartbeat up and you will start to sweat. When your body sweats ,it means you are burning calories. Now as a beginner you will need to know a few things. Yes, that’s right. Just because you are walking at a fast pace it doesn’t mean that you don’t need to know a few things to get started. The last thing you want is to injure yourself and all because you decided to give speed walking a try. First, you will need the correct clothes.

While speed walking you will need clothes that aren’t too tight because you don’t want to be uncomfortable. Now, because you will be sweating you need to wear something that can easily wipe the sweat away from your body. Next, you will need the correct shoes. Remember you are walking at a much faster pace than you would normally. This means that you need ankle support and knee support. Lastly, you will need to have a water bottle. Just because you are walking fast doesn’t mean you won’t need to keep hydrated. It is very important to have a water bottle while speed-walking.
