Every year art enthusiasts from all around the world come together to sell, share and view masterpieces of both established and emerging artists. Art Basel takes place in three parts of the country, once a year. Currently, Art Basel in Miami, Florida is up and running.
In the span of days, artist Maurizio Cattelan’s work of art has been exploited on all forms of social media due to his bizarreness and high cost. Cattelan, an Italian artist created an art piece with a simple banana and duct-tape. This duct-taped banana is on sale for $120,000, which seems to many to be a bit bananas.
The banana art that is on display is so popular that it has people lined up for hours just to take a look and picture of this unexplained artwork. Many believe this artwork to be of comedic relief, so much in fact that visitors of the exhibition and community members that have seen the piece on social media have started to mock and mimic the art work.
At the end of it all, people might believe that this artwork is simply bananas but the likelihood of it being sold to an art connoisseur is quite high. According to USA Today, the first and second edition of the banana art has already been sold for a whopping amount of money.
